Katharine Dickinson

This series of speed skating sport artwork was painted for exhibit in Vancouver and Richmond during 2010, using a combination of traditional and digital techniques that reflect the beauty and raw spirit of athletes in motion. These techniques allow an extensive exploration of colour variations and combinations. The diversity of texture and brush strokes in new media techniques evoke a modern spirit that embodies contemporary sport.
To follow this popular series, Katharine is embarking on a series of Summer Sports Art to show in London during the 2012 Olympic Games.
Katharine is also a Community Artist for The Lifelong Journey Project, an interactive speaker series with the City of Vancouver and Vancouver Park Board, in which Olympic and Paralympic athletes share their experiences, raising awareness of sports within the community.
Katharine has been a professional artist and portrait painter for over 20 years. She studied fine art printmaking at the internationally renowned Slade School of Fine Art, University College London, UK. Her work has been shown in London, New York, Toronto and Vancouver galleries, including an exhibit at the prestigious National Portrait Gallery in London, UK. Represented in both Canada and the UK, Katharine works out of her studio in Vancouver, BC. She is currently accepting commissions.
